Seth-man is seven months old.
I started sitting up right at seven months, and boy is that fun! …a whole new perspective on life!
I love to scoot around with a one-armed, one-legged army crawl. I spend many of my days following my big brother around the house, although, he is much faster than I am.
Still no teeth, but I am working on them.
I weighed a little over 17 pounds at seven months.
I wake up once per night for a feed, and I like to take a morning and afternoon nap. I love to suck my thumb.
I really dislike getting into the car seat.
My hair is still a sight to see! Everyone always comments on my style. It mostly sticks straight up. The front section is starting to lay flat.
I love to squeal, smile and laugh, and my smile is big and always wide open.
Seth is six months old!
I love to play on my tummy with my toys, roll over and I am trying to scoot forward and all around.
Lately, I have been working on sitting up. I’m close, but not quite there yet.
At my sixth month check-up I weighed 16 lbs. 16 oz. and measured 26 in. long.
I have fuzzy hair that sticks straight up from my head. It’s my most striking quality 🙂 … everyone is always rubbing my head.
I have a lot of fun squealing loudly, grunting and growling. I have a great big smile and a fun laugh, or so I am told.
I have started making a few consonant sounds.
My big brother definitely makes me laugh. When I start screeching, he copies me and then things get really loud!
I love being outside, kicking and splashing in the bathtub and grabbing people’s hair.
I started sleeping much longer at night a little after six months, and I am good at putting myself to sleep. I wake up once now to feed. I like to take a morning nap around 9 and a mid-afternoon nap around 12:30 or 1, and sometimes a third nap gets thrown in there. I have completely ignored a pacifier, but instead, I like to suck on my thumb every now and then, especially when I am sleepy or if I wake up in the middle of the night.
I think I am going to be trying food soon! At least, that’s what the big people tell me.
Seth is five months old. The four-month update didn’t happen (I went back to work, we moved houses and things got crazy!), so here is a combined one.
I started laughing at four months; people really like when I do that!
I like to put everything in my mouth.
I weighed 14 pounds 6 oz at my four month check up and measured almost 24 inches.
I was sleeping like a champ before four months, but I have been all over the place in nighttime sleep and naps. I am working on putting myself to sleep and getting into a little routine.
At five months, I weigh a little over 15 pounds.
I now like to sit up with help and look at everything around me. It won’t be long before I am sitting up on my own!
I discovered my feet right before five months.
My hair is now really fuzzy and sticks straight up.
I went to two weeks of swim classes. That was fun and relaxing! I like to float on my back with a little help and swim under water.
My big brother is very entertaining. I am typically just staring at him wide-eyed wondering what is happening. He sings songs to me, brings me toys and diapers. He’s pretty loud, but quite fascinating.
Seth is three months old. He is starting to really notice the world around him and get even more interactive! Noah has just started becoming even more interested in Seth, giving him kisses often.
I am getting really good at grabbing things and holding on tight. My arms and hands (crazy things!) are much more controlled now.
I found my thumb this week; it’s very tasty! Pacifiers are not really my cup of tea, but I will take one every now and then.
Mommy does something now called “going to work”. I am not so happy about taking a bottle, but I am getting the hang of it, with some protesting.
I weigh a little over 14 pounds.
My hair is getting longer. It’s mostly light blonde, but I’ve got a pretty good amount of reddish color in it, too.
I rolled from my tummy to my back a couple weeks ago. That was fun!
My big brother likes to play peek-a-boo with me; it makes my eyes get really big and round! He also give me lots of kisses.
I typically sleep from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m., have a feed and then snooze until 7 a.m. or so. I like to sleep on my tummy.
One month late, but here is Seth’s two month update!
I am getting a lot more active and love to talk, squeal and drool everywhere.
I have discovered smiling. I have a smirk that the big people really like.
I’ve started noticing the toys that hang above my head.
I weighed 12 pounds 2 ounces at my checkup, and I measured 23 inches long.
Like my brother, I don’t like when the car stops. It’s much better when we are moving!
One month has come and gone with our second sweet boy. It’s definitely an adjustment with two, but such a blessing to have these boys. My heart is full thinking of Noah and Seth becoming buddies. Here is Mr. Seth’s update. I have made a promise that I will continue these monthly updates, despite having our hands full!
On my birthday
I weigh about 10 1/2 pounds. At my one week appointment, I weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19 3/4 inches long.
I outgrew my newborn diapers and clothes around 3 weeks.
My nighttime sleep is all over the place…sometimes sleeping a 4 hour stretch and other times waking up every two, three or even every hour. I just really like to eat.
My hair is beginning to fall out just on the top.
I started smirking and giving smiles around 3-4 weeks.
My big brother seems pretty cool. There are a lot of things he can do, but he can’t really say my name. I’m not sure why, but he pronounces his “s” ‘s as “d” ‘s, and, well, you can imagine that makes my name sound a little strange. I guess he’ll get it right some day.
Well, in a quick blink of an eye it seems like this little man has become 19 months old. So much has changed since 12 months. Mainly on the mobility end … walking … and the vocabulary. I am amazed at how Noah understands what we are saying to him and how much he repeats words! I wish I had written and updated more often, but that is the nature of chasing around a toddler while being pregnant. Yes, you read that right! Noah has no idea what will hit him, but his little sibling will turn us into a family of four (plus the dog equals 5!) around early March 2015. They will be right at two years apart. I am super excited for these two to grow up playing together. Here is my best attempt at recapping the last seven months. Pregnancy brain, for me, has taken on a whole new meaning this time around. I am not sure how I manage to get myself together each day, but by the grace of God and lots of help, we are all functioning over here! Photos are from our trip to the Zoo this past weekend.
I officially became a walker right around 13 months. I took my first couple of steps one day after my first birthday party, but decided to go back to crawling and wait a few more weeks before becoming totally mobile. No need to rush things!
I also completely weaned myself at 13 months.
I weigh 23 pounds and measure 31 inches. I’m in the lower percentiles for height and weight, and my head is in the 98th percentile, as it has been my whole life.
I am a very talkative little guy with a big vocabulary. I am learning new words every day.
My favorite things are anything with a motor: cars, trucks, boats, tractors, airplanes, trains, etc. and anything that goes “BANG!”. I love to read books and tell you what I see in them. I love being outside. I love being chased. I love sending my toys under furniture for the big people to retrieve them; it makes me laugh every time!
My latest obsessions are ice chests (opening and closing them), the mailman “mayman” and hippos (from the Zoo). The hippos kept making a stinky mess, so I call them “Stink Hippo”. The mailman opens his big truck and takes out things and then puts the things in a box … it’s amazing… all of my favorite things in one!
I am very concerned about “OWWIES”. If I get an “OWWIE”, I immediately need a kiss to make it feel better, and I am very concerned about other people’s “OWWIES”.
I like to take things apart, take the tops off of things and examine how they work. I think I am a pretty observant little guy.
I went to the beach three times in these last few months. I am fascinated by seaweed, which I call “Wee Weed”, seashells “Wocks” and water “Agua”.
Little man is twelve months old. One year. Cliché alert: it has gone by so fast. It’s bittersweet not having a cuddly infant, but at the same time, it is so fun seeing this little personality shine through. Each stage just gets more and more fun and a little less sleep deprived, too! Noah, you are a precious child of God. We are so proud to be your parents. I pray that you will know and understand your Father’s unconditional love for you. My prayer for you, my hope for your future, is that you become a man of God: compassionate, gentle, smart and strong like your dad… a leader. I pray that you will know Jesus. I pray for your purpose. I know you’re here for something big and important, and we thank God for letting us be here to witness your life. Happy first birthday to our precious, sweet little man.
I started crawling on my hands and knees this month… not just an army crawl.
I am also
walking running with my toy walker like a champ. I love when mommy and daddy chase me while I’m running all over the house. I love to bang into the walls with my walker!
I will actually play in my room by myself for 10 or so minutes, then I crawl into the living room or kitchen to see what I’m missing out on.
I’m still a pretty cautious little guy. There isn’t any reason to do anything drastic. I love when you help me walk. I’ll try to pull up on certain things, but not without a little help.
I weigh almost 21 pounds and measure 28 1/2 inches. I’m in the lower percentiles for height, mid percentile for weight and my head still is in the 95th percentile. I’ve got brains!
My top right tooth is still trying to make it’s way down. When it gets here, I will have five teeth.
I eat three good meals of solid foods each day with a little mid-afternoon snack. I have a milk feed first thing in the morning, before I go to bed and still once in the middle of the night. A couple of weeks ago, for almost a whole week, I slept through the entire night (7 p.m. to 7 or 8 a.m. without waking up!). Mommy was very happy.
I recognize a lot of different words that the big people say: airplane, duck, dog, lights, elephant, horse, up, hot, apple… The one thing I repeat over and over, again all day long is “APP”, short for apple, not the iPhone app.
I love to look through books, play on my rocking horse, spin and turn things, open doors and look up for airplanes and lights. I’ve started reaching up to grab or point at things.
This will be my last monthly update. I’ll let you know how things are going throughout my second year, but not quite so often. Mommy will post other pics, too.
Little man is eleven months old. This is actually a happy squeal.
I recognize the words dog, up, elephant, duck, horse, open, close, spin. When the big people say those words, I know to look for those things or do those things.
I usually will give out a High Five if you ask nicely.
I have four teeth. The one to the left of my top left tooth came in earlier this week. My right front tooth is coming in as we speak, so I’m a little lopsided.
I weigh about 20 pounds.
I sleep from about 7:30 p.m. to about 4 or 5 a.m., have a little feed and go back to sleep until 7 or 7:30 a.m.
I started dropping my afternoon milk feed a couple weeks ago, so now I feed around 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 7 p.m. and 4 or 5 a.m. I eat solid food for breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and dinner. I’ll drop the mid-morning feed pretty soon.
I do love to eat. Some of my new favorite things are those little oranges. My typical breakfast is two or three egg yolks and a banana or some type of fruit (I know that sounds like a lot, but I’m a growing boy!). For other meals, I love chicken, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots and really any fruit. I get salmon, venison or duck every now and then depending on what mommy and daddy have left over from their meals.
I’m still allergic to cow’s milk, so I can’t do yogurt, cheese or anything like that. I hope I grow out of that soon.
Some of my favorite activities are walking all around (still with help), but I am getting better and better each day. I recently started walking pretty well with only one hand being held by the big people.
I love to kick my mini soccer ball all around the house. I still do not love crawling.
I love dogs… any kind of dog.
I love to read books, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by Eric Carle is one of my new favorites. It has sliding flaps that I have now mastered opening and closing.
Little man is ten months old. That officially sounds very close to twelve months, which equals one year. Wow.
I started crawling this month… Christmas morning, that is. Well, it’s actually an army crawl only used when I really want to get something, like my wooden toy car or those neat outlet covers that mommy and daddy use now.
I still would much rather walk with the help of the big people. I like to hold onto their fingers and walk all around the house checking out the rooms, opening cabinets, looking outside, walking outside and trying to keep up with Jax.
I did get my top left tooth (finally), and now, I have three teeth.
I have started eating a lot more solid foods at each meal, and I’ve tried a lot of new foods this month. Every day, I have breakfast, lunch and dinner with milk feeds first thing in the morning, mid-morning, afternoon, bedtime and once around 3 or 4 a.m.
Now that my tooth is in, I happily sleep from about 7 or 7:30 to about 4 a.m., have a little milk and go back to sleep until about 7 or 7:30 a.m.
Sneezing is still one of the funniest things I have ever heard.
I make a lot of different sounds and noises. My new word is “Duckle”. It’s a combination of “duck” and “tickle”. I also say “oooooo” to everything while making a “Blue Steel face”.
I have started to associate words that I hear with actual objects, which the people say is really cool. When mommy says “elephant”, I always look to find those colorful elephants that hang from my bedroom fan.
I love to turn the pages of books, and I especially love any book with flaps that I can peek under.
My other activity this month is kicking balls while walking. I’m practicing my soccer skills, which makes Daddy proud.
